energetic materials
When working with energetic, reactive, or costly formulations, the Thermo Scientific™ HAAKE™ MiniLab 3 provides a tightly controlled, small-volume process window that helps reduce risk and material use while delivering production-relevant data. Its conical, fully intermeshing twin screws handle a broad viscosity range with precise multi-zone barrel temperature control and real-time torque/pressure readouts for consistent specific-energy input and easy method transfer.
The MiniLab’s Vari-Batch™ concept lets you choose small test volumes (≈2–5 mL) to conserve material. A bypass/recirculation valve extends or shortens residence time on demand, effectively mimicking different L/Ds of larger twin-screw extruders without changing hardware. Distributive and dispersive mixing can be tuned via screw speed, screw elements, and valve position to achieve the target morphology.
Barrel and screw materials are engineered for abrasion and chemical resistance to ensure repeatable results over years of use. Paired with HAAKE RheoWin™ analysis on a HAAKE MARS rheometer or Viscotester iQ, you can quantify flow/viscoelastic behavior and derive scale-up parameters from torque/pressure trends. Downstream, extrudate can be directed to micro-injection molding, strand dies, or other shaping accessories for immediate testing—streamlining development from lab concept to pilot production while keeping safety, control, and sample efficiency at the forefront.
