POLYMER & ELASTOMERS

Polymer and elastomer innovation keeps accelerating—new chemistries, new additives, and new property targets. Thermo Scientific™ HAAKE™ instruments help you keep pace by letting you formulate, shape, and characterize materials quickly and with minimal sample.

With the HAAKE MiniLab 3 twin-screw micro-compounder, formulation work moves from days to hours. You can disperse fillers and fibers, incorporate stabilizers and plasticizers, or evaluate nano-additives while monitoring torque, pressure, and melt behavior in real time. Adjustable screw speed, selectable test volume (≈2–5 mL Vari-Batch™), and a recirculation/bypass valve give you precise control of residence time and mixing intensity—so small-scale experiments translate cleanly to larger lines.

Downstream shaping and testing are straightforward. Extrudate can be drawn into strands, plaques, or films with compact accessories, then measured on HAAKE MARS rheometers or HAAKE Viscotester iQ viscometers to link mixing conditions to flow, viscoelasticity, and structure recovery. This integrated workflow shortens iteration cycles, reduces material consumption, and produces production-relevant data for scale-up and QC.

For rubber and elastomer development, the MiniLab’s fully intermeshing screws provide efficient distributive and dispersive mixing in a small, easy-to-clean package—an effective alternative to labor-intensive bench kneaders when you need fast, consistent pilot samples. Every cubic centimeter of material sees a similar history, improving batch-to-batch consistency and making property comparison more reliable.

Result: more formulations screened per day, clearer processing windows, and confident transfer from R&D to production—powered by the HAAKE product line.
